6.8 SPC

6.8 SPC (Special Purpose Cartridge) was developed by Remington and the U.S. Army 5th Special Forces Group.

6.8 SPC was designed to give greater firepower for CQB (Close Quarters Battle) than the standard 5.56mm round. An M-16 chambered in 6.8 SPC can fire a 115 grain bullet at a velocity of 2,850fps.

The 6.8 SPC is based upon the 30 Remington case and is 43mm long, which is almost the same length as the standard 5.56x45mm round.

The 6.8 SPC round is designed to be fired in AR15/M16/M4 rifles fitted with a replacement upper receiver.

6.8 SPC ammunition can be fit into existing AR15/M16 magazines, with slightly reduced magazine capacities. Feeding problems are common, and 6.8 SPC magazines are recommended.
